Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

Break lease due to mentally instable living environment

My roommate is verbally and emotionally abusive. It makes my living situation stressful to the point I take psychiatric meds. Is there a law that I can break my lease due to such issues? I can get a note from a Dr. saying as such.

No, there is not. Your situation as described would not involve what the law terms a "constructive eviction" which could allow a tenant to terminate prematurely his or her lease without penalty.
