Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

Settlement release

If I settle a bodily injury claim against an auto ins carrier, must I also release the insured from future lawsuits? Or can, I just release the insurance carrier? I am in Virginia.

Re: Settlement release

Your settlement is actually with the insured driver, with the insurance company paying. So yes, you have to release the driver (that's what the insurance co. is paying for - you have no direct claim against them).
