Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

I bought a condo in Dec '07 that had a storage space (it conveyed w/property). I did not check the space at the time. Recently, I went to check the space & found it still filled w/previous owner's stuff and under the lock. How should I go about removing the stuff so I can use the storage unit myself??

Send the previous owner a letter informing him or her that these items of personal property stored in this space which you now own must be removed by a date certain or that you yourself will dispose of them as you see fit.
