Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Deed of Gift

My mother and I were listed as owners of my property. Appr. 2 yrs. ago we changed it to my name and my husband's. My Dad had to sign the deed of gift since he and my mother are married, to sign his claim over to us also we were told. If my dad passed away, does his children from a prev. marriage have any legal issue to present concerning my property? I believe he left nothing to all of his children(who reside in another state). I'm unsure of all the legalities involving my dad, his will, my property...... thank you, LaLa

Re: Deed of Gift

No, your father's other children from a prior marriage would have no viable claim against your property which you now jointly own with your husband in the event of your father's passing.
