Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

New home construction

We are currently having a home built and the builder has stopped work on the home for almost 4 weeks now. The builder states that the company is having difficulties and are unable to answer any questions with any type of certaintly at the moment. He said that i should seek legal advice to protect my interest in our transaction. The realtor who i was dealing with says that the builder is seeking a new lender and may possibly file for bankrupsy. He owes the realtor company for commission and owes his subcontractors money. What do i need to do? Should i seek legal help? Thank you.
