Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Real Estate Ownership

I have just been told that if a person takes care of a property owner (e.g. parent, relative) in their own home for a period of 2 years, title to the property transfers to the care giver. Is their such a law?

Re: Real Estate Ownership

No, I have never heard such a thing, and everything that I know would say the opposite.

Now, it may be that someone you are hearing about entered into such an AGREEMENT by CONTRACT.

The property owner could certainly enter into such an agreement as payment for the services.

But it would nto be automatic. It would depend upon the agreement of the parties.

And for a contract involving land to be enforceable it must be in writing and signed by the property owner.
