Does every person who lives in an rented apartment required to sign a lease with the landlord? Can only one person sign the lease and another person not sign who reside in the same dwelling?

Re: Who has to sign a lease

The lease for an apartment in Virginia can be oral

and, not necessarily written. In that case, the

terms will be the provisions of the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act (VRLTA).

If your a tenant whose lease, in effect, is this

"Act", you should become familiar with its variousa provisions which could have a significant

impact on your tenancy.
