Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Appeal Guilty in Absentia Minor Incident

I jumped a toll because there was no staff attendant to take my dollar. An officer pulled me over and ticketed me for the toll. He also ticketed for having an unchanged drivers license despite the fact I explained I was non-resident. A few weeks later I moved to another state and changed my license appropriately. I showed up for the mandatory court date and my case for both tickets got changed to trials that were to be pushed to the end of the docket. Several sources told me that ''trials'' are heard after lunch which was 1 hr. I left the court to develop a photo of the same toll that now had a sign ''Unstaffed Booth if no change please proceed forward''. When I arrived back the judge had already found me guilty in absentia. The collective fines for these fees are under $250 which is not problem however I belong to an organization that requires no more than two incidents of any type. Are there any resources that would help me write a successful appeal? (The fines double if I lose.)

Re: Appeal Guilty in Absentia Minor Incident

Appeal, upon the facts as you truthfully know them. There are, simply put, no better resources for your appeal to the circuit court than these.
