Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
When making a left-hand turn at an intersection with a light that is a not designated with arrows, just ball lights and the person on the opposite side of the intersection is also turning left, what do you do? Do you turn left in front of the oncoming traffic (with passenger doors closest) or do you pass the oncoming left-hand turner and then make your left-hand turn?

The answer is the same as if there were actually designated left-hand turn lanes: each car should turn in front of the other (passenger doors closest). If you think about it, that is the only way for the paths of those two vehicles not to cross.
