2nd Opinions related to Workers Compensation

If you are on workmans comp, can you obtain a 2nd opinion and have the claim covered. I am being told the 2nd opinion is not covered by law?

Re: 2nd Opinions related to Workers Compensation

Based on my 35 years of workers compensation practice, I can tell you that the insurance company is not obligated to pay for a second opinion. The insurance company will often get a second opinion if an expensive operation or procedure is being considered. However, this is done to protect the insurance company and not the claimant. Of course, there is nothing to prevent you from obtaining your own second opinion but you may have to pay for it.
