It is not clear from your question if you settled your entire case or if you were just paid for permanent partial disability. If it is the latter, then you still have lifetime medical benefits. The doctor should still offer you treatment but if he or she will not do so then you need to change doctors. This has to be done carefully, though, as you don't want the insurance company to deny coverage for the new doctor. You need to consult an experienced and knowledgeable Virginia attorney on how to do this.

I echo what Mr. Sweeny has said. If the carrier will not provide you medical treatment, you should file a claim for a doctor with the Virginia Workers Compensation Commission. The carrier can offer to settle your lifetime medical coverage. The value of it would be determined by what medical care is needed for your knee. You indicate you were paid compensation. You should check with an experienced Virginia Workers Compensation Attorney on whether or not you are entitled to more compensation.
