Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

On my criminal record, there appears an association with someone that apparently tried to use my name or something when they were pulled over for a DUI. I had no knowledge of this. I found this out a couple years later when I got in trouble myself and went to jail, and the sheriffs told me I had an AKA of some Middle Eastern name associated with AF which i can only assume means Afghanistan. I also vaguely remember mention of something about a FBI file. Fast forward about 8 years now, and this looms in the back of my head. I'm not sure what this association means for for me if I were to travel or if I have any ability to remove it from my record.

With respect to your criminal record, you need to contact the Washington State Patrol. You will likely be told to submit your fingerprints and a written request for your records. When handling this matter for you, WSP should remove incidents from your record that are determined to be arrests involving other persons. However, it may be that your name will still be associated with the record belonging to the person who used your name (not sure you can change that as he used your name as an alias).

You may also want to contact the court in which the case was filed against the person using your name. Identify yourself and ask if the case is a part of your "Defendant Case History". If so, request that the court remove the case from your case history. If the court is unwilling to do so, you can take matter up with the Administrative Office of the Courts [http://www.courts.wa.gov/court_dir/orgs/162.html] .
