forgery

my mom gave me a traverlers check for x-mas, i went to cash it and didnt know it was fake... i was arrested... can they charge me? i didnt know and i didnt forge anything

Yes, the can charge you. They only need probable cause to charge you. The better question is whether they can convict you. Was it an obvious fake check that the average person could tell was fake by looking at it? If not you likely have a viable defense. Contact me directly for further assistance.
