Legal Question in DUI Law in Washington

Moved out of State

My friend received a DUI in WA 3 years ago. He went for his first Suspension hearing and his Licence was Suspended and received a WA ID in mail. He never heard from anyone again for a second court hearing(not sure if mail got lost)

But before anything was resolved he moved to NY.

Now he wants to get his NY State id-Will this be a problem?(Will alarms go off in the NY DMV?)

Eventually he would want to get a NY Driver's licence-Does his WA record have to be cleared? Is it connected?

He cannot afford a lawyer right now. Please advice.

Re: Moved out of State

Washington and New York are members of the interstate compact on driving. As such, there is a good possibility NYS has the information from Washington state. Because your friend failed to resolve the underlying DUI it's possible he was found guilty in absentia and/or a warrant was issued for his non-appearance. Pose your question on the Washington board. Hopefully a lawyer there will assist.
