Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Washington

How do I go about protecting a money making idea? The product exists. The sales venues exist. The use would be by a wide population because of a new area of need rather than by just a specific group of unrelated persons.

Once I suggest this idea to the appropriate contacts, how do I keep them from just using the idea without compensating me for it?

The only costs would be Advertsement. Word of mouth should be all that is necessary. It could potentally be a forever need/want. Prepurchase of product s nominal! Distribution is easy. Sales price would conservatively be 2 1/2 times purchase price. Would generate sales tax.

Is already okay from the gov't agency that would be affected. I have the rules they follow and my idea should not be in conflict, nor do they have an idea that it would be marketed for this use. Thank you.

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say it's not possible to even begin an answer without a lot more detail. And you probably don't want to post this on a public forum like LawGuru. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
