My 17 year old took my car without permission and had an auto accident. There was no insurance and the car was being sold. Are the parents responsible for the damages.

Washington State has a family car doctrine that might apply to your situation, but it does appear based on your question that your child did not have permission to drive the vehicle. Given there is no insurance on the vehicle there is a good chance the injured party would file suit against both you and your child asserting the family car doctrine. Given your situation it would be best to contact an attorney immediately to discuss your situation in more detail.
