Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Wisconsin

A friend bought and had a car repossessed in North Carolina. But it turns out the credit place the car dealership used is in Michigan and they had a Wisconsin group serve her papers. Whose laws take precedent Michigans or North Carolina?

Proper jurisdiction in this matter may be something which your friend can contest, depending upon whether or not there is still time to do so. I am guessing, however, that your friend lives in WI now if she was sued here, so starting the case here may actually be to her benefit, since her lawyer can now challenge these legal issues here rather than somewhere far less convenient. Since this car has already been taken, the remaining claim is there now a general unsecured debt which is probably dischargeable in bankruptcy. Your friend should therefore immediately schedule an appointment with an experienced bankruptcy attorney. Please remember that my answer question here does not make me your lawyer and I will not be taking any action on your case.
