power of attorney and life estate

I have power of attorney for my grandmother who is in a nursing home. She also created a life estate with a quick claim deed for her home naming me and my husband on the deed. Can I obtain a home equity loan on the life estate property?

Hello. It depends upon the attitude of the mortgage company. As long as you make full disclosure, you will be aright. People who don't make full disclosure run the risk of being charged with mortgage fraud. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
