Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Wyoming

Screening for legal alien status without violating anti discrimination laws.

Recently, there has been a lot of press about harboring illegal aliens. There are even cities making it a misdemeanor for landlords to rent to illegal aliens. I have always thought that it was inappropriate to even inquire as to national origin under the fair housing laws. I am now, however, very concerned that I need to do a better job of screening applicants to assure that they are either U.S. citizens or are legal aliens. How can I, as a landlord, obtain sufficient information to protect myself from risks associated with housing illegal aliens without violating fair housing laws?
