Legal Question in Business Law in India

I am a Indian.

I got one offer letter from one of the company in Singapore.

As requested by them, I signed each page of offer letter in bottom and sent back them the scanned copy.(Please note that offer letter is just plain file, not in stamp paper.)

I received approved Employment Pass from them. But, before 8 days of joining the company(29th July), I sent an email saying that due to some personal issue, I will not able to join the company.

==================================================================================

Agreement mention in Offer letter:

You shall report for work at the Company's office on 05th Aug 2013 subject to the approval

of your employement pass. In case you fail to join the company by the scheduled date, you would be breaching the contract with the company, in which case you agree to pay liquidated damages equating to one month of you salary to the company

==================================================================================

Now on 20th Aug, they sent me an email saying that you have breached the contract, hence

you need to pay 1 months of salary(mention is offer letter).

So my question is:

1. what legal consequences can happen and what maximum they can do against me?

2. Will it affect my Singapore Traveling in future by other company.

Please suggest.

A quick response will be much appreciated.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Mandarin is the dominant language in Singapore and most of the population in Singapore are of Chinese origin. You should tell the Company that your appointment in the Company itself was conditional as mentioned in your Agreement (Appointment Letter) that your appointment is subject to approval of your employment pass, which actually ought to have been without any conditions. So you are in no way obliged to join the Company and there is no way that the Company can claim the money from you. To hell with the chinky eyed "Chini-makaoows" in Singapore, there are plenty of other countries where you can work in, and get better paid.

Regards,
