Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

Debt decided on after divorce by judge

When I got divorced, my exhusband was to pay a bill with a jewlery company even though the account was set up in both our names. The collections company is now calling and harassing me for payment. What can I do?

Re: Debt decided on after divorce by judge

The judge's ruling does not effect the original contract with the finance company. Therefore, if you were on the contract you are still liable on the debt itself. If you ex-husband has not complied with the judge's order to pay the debt then it appears a Rule Nisi should be filed to bring your ex husband before the court so the judge can deal with his failure to comply with the court's order.
