Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

I have filed a small claims court case against an individual, and supoenaed a police officer, well the police officer said he had mandatory state training that he was unable to miss on the court date. I went to the court house to see if I was able to retract the supoena, and the clerk told me there was no real form to use it on, and I might just need to write the judge a letter stating the situtatuion, and because it is a civil case it shouldnt affect the trial. The other option the police officer stated, was to change the court date, which is out of the question because I have waited long enough. So my question is what do I need to do to release the police officer from the supoena, and not get him charged with anything, I reside and court will be in Etowah County, Alabama, and set for the 22 of February, so this is coming up pretty quick. Thanks for the help.

Give the judge's office a call and ask to speak with the judge's assistant. Then explain what is going on and what you need to do. They can usually provide some good direction.
