Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Arizona

Accountable for Fee's

I recently finished a hearing to modify visitation. My lawyer was awarded legal fee's (China Doll) from my ex in the amount of $2586.00. My lawyer says since my ex refuses to pay, I have to pay.(My Ex didn't appeal, he just said he won't pay) Is this right? I have already paid $1700.00. My lawyer sent me a bill for an additional $1750.00 which he says is in addition to the $1700.00 I've already paid. I also want to mention that he never discussed the additional amount until after the hearing and then sent me the bill. Do I have to pay the full bill, or is my lawyer responsible to recover from my ex?

Re: Accountable for Fee's

If you check more closely you will find that your legal expenses were awarded to you, not your lawyer who is not a party to your case.

Your lawyer provided legal services to you, not your spouse, and you owe your lawyer's legitimate and reasonable bill.

You are entitled to be reimbursed for these costs from your ex.
