Water Softener installed in bought home

I recently bought a house 1 1/2 years ago with a water softener. The water softener was installed as a rental under contract with the prior owners. My question is am i liable\responsible to pay\return the water softener?

Re: Water Softener installed in bought home

That might depend upon the specific terms of your contract with the sellers, or their contract with the supplier. It may be considered a fixture of the home.

If you keep the system you will have to pay. If you don't want it call the rental company and speak with them. Tell them you do not want the unit anymore and want written cancellation of the contract by them and removal. You may be able to negotitate something fair. You might want to keep it. This issue should have been dealt with at the time of sale of the home.

Good luck.
