Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arkansas

Can a judge do this?

My cousin recently had new pipes put on his truck at a local service station in our town. A couple of weeks later, he was written a ticket by a city cop for his pipes being too loud. My cousin appeared at court with a letter from the service station saying that the pipes they installed on my cousin's truck were legal. The judge told my cousin he had to pay the fine (which is understandable) and he had to have the pipes removed by a certain time. Can a judge make someone remove ppipes from their vehicle if they are legal?

How do you know the pipes are legal? Because the service station which installed them said so? What do you expect the service station to say, that they installed illegal pipes?

The fact the judge imposed a fine suggests the pipes have been found to be illegal.

Your cousin could try suing the service station for breach of contract - the agreement was obviously that your cousin would get legal pipes, because illegal pipes are worthless. He should try the local small claims court.

Good luck!
