Can a lien be placed on real property in the bahamas

Liens cannot be placed on real property in The Bahamas because there is no compulsory land registration system and Bahamas laws only allow for consensual encumbrances i.e. Mortgages, Debentures etc. that are signed by the borrower / land owner.
