Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

collecting judgments against former employers

How do I proceed to collect a judgment for unpaid wages (awarded in 6/97) against a former employer , who's last known residence is in another state. There has been no attempt by my former employer to pay the judgment. What is the statute of limitations for lapse of time before the judgment is dismissed?

Re: collecting judgments against former employers

If this former employer resides in another state

and you can't find any of his assets in this state,

you'll have to get the judgment entered in that

other state, called a "sister state judgment." Then

you can enforce the judgment in that other state

against assets located in that other state.
