Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Relatives and the law

I purchased a car for my daughter-in-law (its in my name) thinking that she would keep up all the payments...wrong, well they just repossed it. after they auction off the car and the balance is left, is there any way I can legally make her pay the difference left?

You can sue her in small claims court if the balance is less than $5,000, or in superior court if it is greater. To win, you would just have to prove that the two of you agreed that she would keep up the payments, and that the car was not a gift.
