My apologies as this may be indelicate, but did you mean "after death?" If so, the answer is not a simple "yes" or "no" answer. It depends upon a lot of factors, including what sort of estate the decedent had, whether you were an authorized user on the debts, or even co-debtor, if you were married and living in California at the time the debts were incurred. I would suggest that you either consult with a local probate attorney (as this is really more a question of probate than credit law), or re-post this to the probate, trust and estate section on this site.
