Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I got a drinking in public in Fullerton, Ca. And missed my court date and it turned into a warrant. I got arrested and bailed out hours later now I go to court for this tomorrow. My question is, should I plead not guilty so I can get a public defender that way I can explain to him why I missed my court date, because I honestly tried everyway possible to get an extension or ay least find out how much the ticket was for so i could just pay it. But there was no sign of myself in their system. I didnr know what to do.

If you can afford an attorney you should hire one. If you plead NOT Guilty you have a chance to work it out...
