Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I just dscovered an 8 year old bench warrant from San Bernardino Superior Court on their website. It is listed as an active warrant from 2002. However, it was not there 2 years ago. It was just posted. I have had a police officer from that county take my information when my house was burglarized years ago, and have been live-scanned for employment 2 years ago, and it never showed up. If I would have thought it waw there I would have taken care of it years ago. I am getting ready to graduate from college and will need to be licenced by the state. I want to turn myself in and take care of it, but will it show as a 2010 conviction if I am convicted?? I really do not want them to think I'm committing crimes recently! I've never been in trouble since 2002. What should I do?

Take care of it now or later but it will likely bite you in the tail at some point. Get an attorney you trust to help you through this process.

I concur with Mr. Hale. Just because there is a Warrant, doesn't mean you are guilty. The government still has to prove their case. Depending on the nature of the crime, your attorney may be to negotiate an excellent deal for you that will minimize the consequences and long term effects.

Handle it now, no matter what you worry it 'might' do. Ignoring it will get you arrested and transported to that court in a jumpsuit. Instead, have an attorney appear with you, or go alone, and deal with it as necessary, depending upon what the truth and facts really are. Feel free to contact me if serious about getting such legal help.
