how do i go about having my name changed?? who can i talk to, can i do this by myself or do i need attorney?? and what cost should i look forwarded to?? thank you for any information you can give me

This is EXTREMELY easy for you to do yourself. The State of California office that oversees all Courts in the state very recently put up a Self-help web site which shows you how to do this and MANY OTHER SIMPLE (AND SOME NOT SO SIMPLE) things you'd normally need a lawyer for.

IT WILL GUIDE YOU THRU THE PROCEDURES AND TELL YOU WHERE TO GET THE FORMS, BUT IT ALSO HAS MANY, MANY FORMS FOR YOU TO USE WHICH YOU CAN DOWNLOAD FOR FREE W/ INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FILL THEM OUT.
