Legal Question in DUI Law in California

DMV suspension -out of state license

Resident and licensed to drive in WA. Got arrested for DUI in CA in 2003. Refused test. Pleaded no contest to Wet Reckless. Paid all fines, got no court ordered license suspension and alcohol school was waived.

CA DMV suspended my ability to drive in CA for 12 months for refusal. My attorney said I only needed to worry about CA DMV suspension if WA DMV suspends my license. This never occured. So I didn't worry about CA DMV. (I did avoid driving in CA and WA for a year anyway just in case)I have since renewed my WA drivers license in 2004.

Do I need to worry about SR-22 or CA DMV re-instatement fees? If i do will it trigger action by WA DMV at this point? I don't like having this hanging out there.

Re: DMV suspension -out of state license

As California DUI / DMV attorneys, we handle following common types of prosecutions related to driving without a license:

Driving Without a License - is charged in two situations. The first is when a person is caught driving in California and the person has never obtained a valid drivers license to begin with. The second is when someone with a valid license from another state or country comes to live in California, but fails then to obtain a California driver's license.
