Legal Question in Family Law in California

He broke the engagement-do I keep ring?

My fiance moved out and broke off the engagement. I did nothing wrong except ''not give him enough space''. Do I get to keep the ring?

Also, I paid 6 months of rent in our apartment on his behalf as well as paying for my 1/2 of the rent. Can I sue to get this money back now that he ended things? His name is even on the lease and I was only helping him with the verbal promise that he would start paying when he got in his feet, as he said. When he got on his feet he coincidentally moved out within a week to his own apartment.

Re: He broke the engagement-do I keep ring?

Keep the ring, let him pursue you for it. On the lease, its a contract question or what was your deal. If you were supposed to split it, you can take him to Small Claims Court ($7,500 limit).
