Legal Question in Family Law in California

My divorce was final May 2007. The judge left spousal support open jurisdiction of the court. I was married for 24 years to him. The judge says we were separated after 19 years.* What are my chances of getting spousal support now.???especially since he was supposed to sell the house when the divorce was final in May 2007., and hasn't done so ,or has he even listed the house for sale. I'm asking because I 've been living in a trailer and it hasn't been very nice at all., no utilities etc. etc. etc. I think I might have to swallow my pride and go on wellfare. And that makes me so mad, It's not fair I should not have to even go there. He's made so much money in the last nine years since our separation, he owes income taxes in the 6 digets. And I helped him in that business for 19 years. I didn't ask for spousal support 2 years ago cause I thought I would have money from the house. And then I would be able to hire a attorney to help me.

It sounds to me like your chances are very good. The fact that the court left spousal support open means you may bring a motion at any time to receive spousal support. You will not be able to get welfare unless you have minor children. Unfortunately, the income taxes he owes may be taken into consideration as a hardship.
