Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was divorced 10/08- and requested to change my last name to my maiden name and court honored it. ButI never changed it to my meiden name. Then in 8/2009 I remarried and took my new husbands last name. I am wondering if I broke the law because I didnt change my last name to my maiden prior to remarrying.I spoke to 2 paralegal and they told me that it was ok, so did social security administration. I am just double checking, thank you.

A person can use whatever name they want, as long as there is no intent to defraud or otherwise use false names in furtherance of illegal objectives or to evade legal obligations.
