Legal Question in Family Law in California

As a step parent, am I legally responsible for taking my stepdaughter to a school in a different city when her father is at work? Father works 48 shifts and cannot take his daughter to school.

Doesn't helping take care of the stepdaughter sort of go along with marrying the mom? Sounds like the dad is working hard to help support his daughter. You should count yourself lucky. Maybe your wife can work it out with the ex to make it easier - if she goes to school in your district instead of dad's - so that she is assured of making it to school every day.

I like Ms. Beers' answer, but the technical legal answer is a step parent does not have any legal obligation to the step children.
