Mom had a stroke family leave act

If I take family leave to help with my ill mother in a nursing home can my job lower my pay or my position that i hold to a lower position? Thanks

If you qualify for FMLA/CFRA leave, then the employer can not retaliate against you for taking it, and would have to show the changes are business justified.
