Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

How long does it take normally to hear a decision on a motion for summary judgment to dismiss a civil complaint after fully submitted? Is it proper for attorney or plaintiff to call Court for status or time frame?

Judges have up to 90 days to decide matters submitted for decision -- longer than that, it's illegal for them to get paid! But you would be insane to point that out to anyone. You would be only slightly less insane to contact the court. It's like "belling the cat." Conventional wisdom says whichever side bugs the judge first, loses.
