Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

A monetary deposit put down for purchase of an autombile

I had an automobile for sale. A person looked at the auto and decided to buy. A check was given as a deposit until the rest of the money could be accessed.

The deposit was cashed, and then the buyer decided to back out of the deal. Am I responsible to return the deposit money in full?

Re: A monetary deposit put down for purchase of an autombile

Ordinarily deposits such as this are non-refundable because you took the vehicle off of the market. In the end it depends on what were the terms of the deal when you took the deposit.
