Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

file for wife

My brother inlaw got married last Dec. but only by church. His wife came back w/him on a tourist visa and she only got the permit for 6months. What could be the best why for him to file for her and how long will it take? They just found out they are soon to be parents and need to get their paper work done.Thank You

They'll want to file for an adjustment of status after the legal marriage certificate is received.
