Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

copyright on a book idea.

I have a great book idea, but no

manuscript yet. I'm anxious to pitch

the concept to an agent, buy the

domain, a yacht, etc...

What can I do to protect myself and

stake a claim before I finish the book?

Thanks!

Re: copyright on a book idea.

You can't copyright an idea. You could always mail your idea to yourself by registered mail if you think there will ever be an issue over whose idea it is. Meanwhile, buy the domain. Hey, if you've got the money, by all means go ahead and buy a yacht. Otherwise postpone this step until after your book is written and is successful.
