Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Contact of Trained and Hire

I am working with an IT Consultant company. They called me and I did have interviewed 3 times. They said they selected me for training and then I will be employed after that. After 1 week of training, they asked me to sign contact that told me that I must work with them for another 15 months or I have to pay $15K if i want to continue training. So, I signed it. After 6 weeks, they asked me to sign another contact saying that I agree to be their employee for 15 months. Then I signed it. I put the date of that day, but they white it out and told me that they will put the date and complete the contact after I got the first project. Next, the marketting team asked me to remake my resume to apply to other company (so they act like agency finding job for me, and when I got job through them, they pay me). The thing i don't like, they told me to make up my resume, i.e. put 5 years experience on the skill they just trained me for 6 weeks. I rejected to do it, it look like i will have no chance to get the first job. I will not get pay, and the contact of 15 months will never start to count. I wonder what can I do in this case? can I leave and find a new job? can they get me to the court to let me pay 15K? Thank you.

This company would be foolish to try to take you to court. From your description, everything they have done sounds unethical and probably illegal. They required you to commit resume fraud as a condition of employment. It is best for you to walk away and have nothing to do with these people. If they threaten you, contact a lawyer who will threaten them back.

Don't perjure yourself on a resume, and don't have anything more to do with them, they are obviously crooks. If they try to collect, get an attorney. Feel free to contact me if it happens.
