Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My friend took some money from cash register that was under $900.00. The manager is investigating if he took it and my friend is worried and regrets what he did. He is thinking of quitting his job before the manager finds out evidence. Can he still be in trouble after he quits and leaves the company?

Is this a serious question? Your friend stole money. That is a crime. Do you really think it will go away of he quits his job? If anything, quitting would indicate guilt.

Nooooooo, he can't be in any trouble if he quits. In fact he could shoot the manager and then quit and he'd get off for murder too just by quitting.
