Legal Question in Employment Law in California

For the past four years I have worked as a department manager. Because I am the primary caregiver of my daughter I am only able to and have always worked only Monday through Friday during the day. I was told that corporate is now requiring all floor managers to work nights and weekends. Since I am not able to do that I was informed that I would be receiving a $2.00 an hour pay cut. Can they do this.

Unfortunately, wage and hours are at the discretion of the employer. While the discrimination laws supposedly protect you from gender discrimination, your burden is to show and prove that this is some form of gender discrimination, meaning only suffered because you are female. The problem is that if they do the same to men, it would defeat your claim, and show merely poor mgmt style. If you think you can prove it, feel free to contact me.
