Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Are public companies in california able (by law) to distribute the age of all workers (by their titles held- example: manager of HR: 55 years old) ?

Is this legal during a lay off of employees where certain titles are uniquely tied to a known person thus making their age known to all others in the company?

Thanks

Actually, it is not only legal, it is required by law, when there is a reduction if force, to address any concerns about age discrimination.
