So what are you asking, if it is okay to be more than twenty minutes late, three times in a month because you have a good reason? Of course not. Everyone has a good reason for being late. But an employer has the right to expect its employees to be at work on time. It has a business to run.

If, however, you have a physical or mental disability that requires some form of reasonable accommodation where the employer may be able to be more flexible with your hours, that can be looked into. If not, the employer may not only suspend you, it can fire you as well.

So? Late is late, and justly subjects you to potential discipline.

The employer is entitled to set and enforce policies, rules, etc. Not only are there no laws against 'unfair treatment' or poor management, but in general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or fired any time for any reason, with or without cause, explanation or notice, The employee's goal should be to keep the employer happy and make the company money. Thats how they pay your wages.
