Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Ten-Year 'Temporary' Employee?

I have worked for the last 10 years as a temporary employee for the City. I do not get any of the benefits full time employees get - I only get paid for holidays. They are 'reclassifying' all their 'temporary' employees into full time employees - scared of running into trouble with Labor Law. I have just been given a 'take it or leave it' offer. Its less than what I make, and there was no allowance for discussion. I took it, grudgingly. My question is were they in violation of Labor Law when I worked a full decade as a 'temporary' employee, and if so, do I have any recourse? I'm angry and would not think twice about suing them if I could.
