Legal Question in Employment Law in California

i am working in a gas station .Every day i ride the bus ,i have bad arthrites on both knees , .my employer asked me to work on weekends .on weekends i have no bus close to my home .I have to walk one mile to catch the bus . Both ways I have to walk two miles . and work 7 hours make my knee swollen and that day and next day i cannot walk , so I told the employer i cannot work on weekends.still he is insisting me to work .Is there any way i can get help from you.

I am afraid not. You cannot force an employer to give you work when it is convenient for you to get to work. You have to find a job you can get to at the times the employer needs an employee.
