Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Workmans compensation history

Recently, I applied for a Job. I was asked specifically if I ever had been on workmans compensation. I have had 1 claim way back in 1993ish to 95. I felt that I would be discriminated against if I checked yes on this question so I checked no. I have not received any medical treatment for my R wrist since 95 or 96. Went through the physical with a doctor just fine.

Can they find out such information since it was over 10 years ago? How do they find out such information? I thought that medical records are confidential.

Re: Workmans compensation history

Or course they can find it, it is part of the medical treatment database. The question was asked to see how honest you are. They can now fire you for resume fraud at any time. Had you told the truth, you were protected by law from discrimination.
